Julie, alors on danse ? Julie, so shall we dance? 145x185cm. Linen canvas 20mm. But at the same time, it's a homage to Stromae, for me the new Jacques Brel: Pure! Project Julie has grown out my children’s memories of the Flemish TINY-books (MARTINE in French, authors Gilbert Delahaye & Marcel Marlier). These books were - normally - only read by girls…but I secretly read then all 1000x times and enjoy the adventures. Julies paintings show sometimes a frail woman body, but strong character, ready to fight.
"Alors on danse" is a song by the Belgian singer Stromae. It comes from the album Cheese, which was released on June 21, 2010, one year after the release of the single.
