Xylem and Phloem.140x200cm. Linen canvas 20mm. Xylem and phloem are the vascular bundles (transport tissues) of plants. Xylem transports water and minerals in one direction (upwards) from roots to leaves. Phloem transports sugars and nutrients (assimilates) from the leaves to the rest of the plant in both directions. Xylem consists of dead cells, phloem of living cells.
